AR Porn In 2017

With the rise of consumer VR headsets over the past few years we’ve also seen the adoption of VR technology hit the market of porn online. Now more than ever the immersive emulation of real physical interaction has caught up to us through the use of technology and it’s only going to get faster as time moves on. In regards to the sense of vision; augmented reality will soon surpass virtual reality in many ways. We may even end up using AR as much as the now common smartphone in our day to day activities.

The advantage of AR technology is simple. Instead of having your vision completely encompassed by a virtual screen your vision of natural reality is partially altered. This allows you to stay grounded in reality and experience an additional source of information that isn’t there. Quite like how you’re experience this through your computer screen right now except your screen could be digitally projected onto your retina and not physically exist at all.

How does this translate to porn? It’s just a more immersive experience. You’re comfortable with the surroundings of reality and then mix into it a stunning actress of your choosing. Instead of being transported to the VR scenes decor you can bring the actress right into your living room.

So far development for porn in the AR space is far and few between but behind the scenes of certain VR studios a new wave of content is rising to the surface. Companies are starting to setup film studios capable of capturing three dimensional volumetric video. This is accomplished by having a multi camera setup that surrounds a scene to capture visual data pertaining to color (or frequencies of light) within the scene as well as an array of laser scanners which capture the depth within the scene. Using this data we are able to piece together a point cloud library with animation that represents the scene in a three dimensional space.

When watching a volumetric scene you will be able to snap the centre of the scene onto a location in your living room and be able to walk around the scene and view it from all angles. This may also incorporate scaling to the environment where the objects in the scene will be scaled to their original size if possible.

Mira Prism Headset $99

The barrier to entry for AR headsets is starting to come down. Over the past year we’ve seen the Microsoft HoloLens; a great example of where AR headset tech could be if not for the costly price. Over the past few months we’re starting to see a surge of new AR headsets that are akin to the early start of VR when the Google Cardboards first hit the market. Utilizing a similar approach of harnessing the power already found within your smartphone. With a few special lenses and a reflective piece of glass you are able to overlay a three dimensional display over your field of view. Because the components of these headsets are so cheap they will be under the sub $100 price point and we should start to see early adoption happen with these first.

Augmented reality is the true future of human vision integrated with computers. ARSmash is currently working on a tech demo that will work with these low barrier to entry AR headsets. We will be posting updates over the following months documenting our progress.
